Anne-Marie Curry has been selected to fight the North Road ward by-election for the Liberal Democrats.
The by-election has been caused by the removal from office of Independent Councillor Steve Jones for failing to attend any council meetings for a period of six months. The election will take place on November 13th.
Anne-Marie has a teenage daughter and works as a teacher. She currently teaches RE in a school in Middlesbrough. She has been a civil servant and has experience of working both in this country and overseas. She has been a union rep and has fought for her members' employment rights on many occasions.
She is a dresser for Darlington Operatic Society and a Committee Member of the Friends of the Civic Theatre. She is a Parent Supporter of Darlington Sea Scouts. Until recently she was a parent-governor at her daughter's primary school.
Anne-Marie fought Harrowgate Hill ward for the Lib Dems in May 2007. She is delighted to have been chosen from a strong shortlist to represent the party in this by-election. She looks forward to joining the strong team of Lib Dem Councillors both in North Road and in the Council Group.
